Aims:
To update the dental team’s knowledge and confidence in recognising, responding to and reporting safeguarding concerns, ensuring safe, responsible and compliant practice when supporting children, adults and those at risk.
Objectives:
Recognise signs and indicators of abuse and neglect in both children and adults, including less obvious or emerging concerns.
Understand current safeguarding responsibilities, reporting pathways and relevant legislation, ensuring actions remain compliant and timely.
Respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns, maintaining professionalism, accurate record-keeping and patient-centred communication.
Apply safeguarding principles within the dental setting, including raising concerns, information sharing and working effectively with external agencies.
